Does the name Carl Linneaus ring a bell? Remember the plant-naming aficionado from Jamaica Kincaid's "In History"?
Well, driving home from work tonight I heard a humorous piece on NPR about Linneaus and the names he came up with for plants. You might find it interesting; here's the link: NPR Radio Piece
Any thoughts on how Kincaid would react to this piece?

I think Jamaica Kincaid would have been really mad if she heard this radio piece. She's already mad at Linneaus for naming all these plants that he had no right to name in the first place, but now she finds out that his naming system was completely random at times, as he's naming a smelly plant after a professor he doesn't like. It makes her argument even stronger that Carl had no god-like power to name all these plants, he was just another guy
